Not your normal web designer.
Velogics is a small team that designs and hand-codes websites, builds custom software, and does SEO for service businesses that want to look like the best in their field - and actually win the work. Everything under one roof, with Velogics AI built in to capture incoming leads and help book the job.
We build for service businesses that get hired locally and found on a phone. The common thread is not the trade: someone searches, shortlists two or three names, and calls whichever one answers.

What is Velogics?
Velogics is a small Ottawa studio that designs and hand-codes websites, builds custom software, and runs the SEO that gets those sites found. The AI answering your chat, your forms and, if you want it, your phone is built by the same team. There are no subcontractors and no account managers between you and the people writing the code. Every price we charge is published, and no rating or client count appears anywhere on this site, because we have none we can evidence.
One team, three names.
Velogics is one company with three faces: Velogics Studio designs and hand-codes the websites, custom software ships as Velogics, and the agents are Velogics AI - at velogics.ai. The same team builds all of it. One roof, one funnel - get found, convert, book - with no handoff between the site and the AI that runs it.
Three names, and what each one sells.
One company, one team, three faces. This is the whole map, including which of them bills you.
| The name | What it does | What you buy | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Velogics Studio | Designs and hand-codes marketing websites, and runs the SEO behind them. | A build from $499 one-time, then $59, $299 or $388 a month. | velogics.ca, this site. |
| Velogics | Builds custom software: web apps, mobile apps, internal tools and integrations. | A scoped project, fixed price after a free scoping call. $150/hr where an hourly arrangement is used instead. | velogics.ca/software. |
| Velogics AI | The agent platform behind the chat, the forms, the bookings and the voice line. | The AI Front Desk sits inside the $388 plan. The voice Receptionist is $199 a month on top of it. | velogics.ai, with the app at app.velogics.ai. |
There is no handoff between them, which is the point. The team that builds your site is the team that wires the AI into it, and the team that answers when you call about either.
Small, senior, and in the room.
The people you meet are the people who build it
The person on your scoping call is the person writing the code. Design, development, SEO and the AI setup happen in house. Nothing is passed to a subcontractor, an offshore build shop or a white-label partner, and nobody hands you to an account manager once the quote is signed.
One conversation, not a ticket queue
Because the same people hold the whole build, changing a page, a schema block or the way the booking flow behaves is a conversation rather than a request that has to travel through three inboxes. That is the practical difference a small team makes, and it is most of why it is worth staying small.
The cost of that, stated plainly
A small team takes on fewer projects at once. If we are full when you call you will be told so, rather than queued and quietly deprioritised. And if your project genuinely needs a bigger team than this one, that is worth hearing from us before you have paid for it.
The four answers that cost us work.
Promise you a ranking
Search engines and AI answer engines belong to third parties who change how they work without telling anyone. Our Terms say we do not guarantee rankings, traffic volumes, lead counts or revenue, and that nobody here is authorised to promise them. That clause is not boilerplate we are hoping you skip.
Sell you a rebuild you do not need
The $299 Hosting + SEO plan applies to a site we built or one you already own. If the honest answer is that your website is fine and your problem is a Google Business Profile nobody has touched in two years, that is what you will hear on the call.
Run your ad accounts
We do the marketing that makes a website produce work: the build, local search, the Business Profile, the AI front desk. Media buying and brand campaigns belong to somebody else, and pretending otherwise would make us worse at the part we are actually good at.
Make it expensive to leave
You own the code and the design on full payment. After the first year the plan is month to month on 30 days notice, and if you go we hand the site over and help you migrate to hosting you control. We would rather be kept because the work is good than because leaving is painful.
From consult to running it for you.
Consult
We map how customers find and book you today - and where a better site, SEO, and AI win you more jobs.
Design & build
Your marketing website - designed, built, and tuned to convert.
AI ready
We can add agents that capture incoming leads and help book the job - human-in-the-loop until you trust it.
Launch & run
We launch, watch the numbers, and keep your site, SEO, and AI working.
What you are actually agreeing to.
Most studios describe this in a proposal you only see once you are already in the pipeline. Ours is in the Terms, so here it is on the page as well.
Nothing starts before the spec is signed
The free scoping call produces a written specification covering scope, a fixed price, a timeline and deliverables. Work begins only once both sides approve it. The minimum project size is $499, and that figure lives in the Terms rather than being negotiated per client.
A change is a change order, in writing
Anything outside the spec gets priced and written down before it is built, and the original spec governs until you agree the change. That clause is what stops quiet scope growth turning up later as a surprise on an invoice, which is the thing most people have already been burned by once.
Your half of it, said out loud
You supply the content, images, brand assets and account access the spec calls for, plus feedback at the review points. If that stalls the timeline pauses, and we tell you the day it does rather than mentioning it at the end. Waiting on a logo is the most ordinary reason a build runs late.
Done means it matches the spec
A build is complete when it does what the specification said it would. Anything not working as specified is a defect and we fix it at no charge. Anything genuinely new is a change order. Writing that difference down in advance is what keeps it from becoming an argument at the end.
You own it on full payment
The code, the design and the content we made for you transfer to you when the invoice is settled. There is no platform lock-in and no licence you keep paying in order to keep using what you already paid us to build. The material you supplied was yours the whole time.
Leaving is a normal thing to do
The plan runs alongside the build for its first year, which is what pays for the build being $499 rather than $999. After that it is month to month on 30 days written notice, and if you cancel we hand the site over and help you migrate to hosting you control.
All six of those are clauses in our Terms of Service, not a description of how we prefer to work. Worth reading before the scoping call rather than after it.
Calm, competent, honest.
We don't bolt a chatbot onto a template and call it innovation. We hand-code the foundation properly, then wire in Velogics AI exactly where it earns its keep - with a human in the loop until you trust it.
And we keep our marketing honest: no invented stats, no fake testimonials, no guarantees we can't stand behind. The work speaks for itself.
Before you hire anyone, ask this.
1Who actually does the work on my project?
The same senior people you speak to on the scoping call. Design, code, SEO and the AI setup are done in house rather than passed down to a subcontractor or an offshore build shop, which is why the process below has four steps instead of fourteen. You are not handed to an account manager once the quote is signed. The practical effect is that changing a page, a schema block or the booking flow is one conversation rather than a ticket that has to travel.
2What does hand-coded mean, and why should I care?
It means the site is written as code instead of assembled from a theme and a stack of plugins. That decides three things you will actually feel: how fast it loads, how much of it can break when something updates itself, and whether you are able to leave. A page builder ties your pages to the tool that drew them, and code does not. It also means the markup underneath can be shaped for search and for AI answers rather than being whatever a theme emitted.
3Why is there no client count, no star rating and no testimonial wall on this site?
Because we will not publish a trust signal we cannot evidence. Velogics has no Google reviews yet, so no rating appears anywhere here, and there is no client number, no years-in-business figure and no percentage lift on anybody's traffic either. What is published instead is the work: live sites you can open and check, and every price we charge. A stated gap is worth more to a buyer than a number that merely looks plausible, and it is the standard we hold client sites to as well.
4What kinds of businesses do you work with?
Four websites, all for Ottawa businesses: a painting company, a restoration company, a decking company and an events company. You can open every one of them from our homepage and check it rather than take our word for it. What those four share is not a trade, it is a sales process - each one wins its next job when a stranger goes looking and picks a name to phone. That is the fit, and it holds whether or not your trade is on that list. We also build custom software and mobile apps, which is a different kind of engagement with its own scope, its own timeline and its own quote.
5Is Velogics AI a different company?
No, it is the same company under a second name. Velogics Studio designs and hand-codes the websites and runs the SEO, Velogics builds the custom software and apps, and Velogics AI is the agent platform at velogics.ai behind the chat, the forms, the bookings and the voice line. One team builds all of it, which is why there is no handoff between your website and the AI answering on it, and one place to call when something needs changing.
6What happens on the free scoping call?
We look at how customers find and book you today, which usually means opening your current site, your Google Business Profile and the results for the words your customers actually type. You get told what we would change and in what order. What comes out of it is a written spec and a fixed quote, and neither one obliges you to anything. If the honest answer is that you do not need us this year, that is an answer we are willing to give.
This page says there is no rating, no client count and no testimonial wall anywhere on the site, because we have nothing we could evidence. That reads like modesty and it is actually the rule. Under section 74.02 of the Competition Act the burden of standing a testimonial up falls on whoever publishes it, and the two ways of discharging that burden are quoted below. Neither is available to us for a figure nobody has produced, so the space stays empty. It is the same verified-or-absent standard we hold client sites to, and it is worth asking of any agency whose homepage opens with one.
- Competition Act, section 74.02, publication of testimonials (Justice Laws Website)
Read 2026-08-25, Act current to 2026-06-21. Source of the rule that whoever publishes a testimonial has to establish that it was previously made or published by the person who gave it, or that it was approved and permission to publish it given in writing.
