AI Chatbot: a 24/7 assistant on your website.
Part of the AI Front Desk. A friendly assistant that greets visitors, answers from your knowledge base, captures leads, and syncs them to your CRM - installed with one line of code.

A real screenshot of the live widget - yours carries your name and colours.
What does the AI Chatbot do?
The AI Chatbot is the assistant on your website. It greets a visitor, answers their questions from a knowledge base you control, collects their name, need and contact details, and can book an appointment straight into your calendar. Every conversation syncs to Follow Up Boss. It installs with one line of code, or it is built into the site we make you. It is part of the AI Front Desk, included in the $388 a month plan rather than priced on its own.
Light or dark. Any accent. Your brand.

Why does it matter what a chatbot answers from?
Every chatbot on the market answers questions around the clock. That is not a difference. The difference is what happens on the question it was not built for, and there are only three possible behaviours.
A scripted bot fails by not understanding. You have met this one: it offers four buttons, none of which is your question, and loops. A bot pointed straight at a general language model fails the other way, by producing a confident answer about your prices, your warranty or your service area that nobody at your business ever agreed to. That answer arrives with your logo above it.
Ours answers from a knowledge base you approved, and when the answer is not in there it says so and takes the question down instead. That is the third behaviour and it is the one you want. An unanswered question you can see is a small problem. An invented answer you cannot see is the one that turns up later as an argument about what was promised.
What is in the knowledge base, and who controls it?
Your services, your hours, the area you actually cover, whatever pricing rule you are willing to publish, and the follow-up questions that qualify a job. You approve all of it before it answers anyone, and you change it whenever the business changes.
It is deliberately not a scrape of your website. A website says what the marketing says; a knowledge base has to hold the things that never made it onto a page, like the fact that you do not do flat roofs, or that anything past Carleton Place gets a travel charge, or that a request without a postcode is not worth calling back.
Because the Front Desk shares one knowledge base across everything, an edit lands everywhere at once. Add an answer today and the chat gives it today. Add the AI Receptionist later and it gives the same answer on the phone, without a second setup.
What happens after the visitor closes the tab?
The conversation does not evaporate. Whatever the chatbot collected, a name, what they need, a phone number or an email, is captured as a lead and pushed into Follow Up Boss, tagged, with the exchange attached.
That matters most for the visitors who never fill in anything. A form gives you a lead only when somebody finishes it. A conversation gives you something at every stage: what they came for, which service they were looking at, what they asked before they left. On the ones who do leave without a contact detail you still learn which question they got stuck on.
If the conversation reached a booking, the appointment is already in Google Calendar or Outlook with a confirmation sent, and the lead record points at it.
Four questions, four different behaviours.
The bottom row is the one that decides whether a chatbot is safe to put on your site. It is also the row most demos skip.
| A visitor asks | What the chatbot does | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Something in your knowledge base, like whether you cover their town | Answers it straight, in your business's own wording. | Nothing to do. The visitor got their answer at 9pm. |
| What a job costs | Gives whatever pricing rule you published, then asks the questions needed to quote properly. | A lead that already carries the answers, instead of a name and a callback. |
| For a time on Thursday | Offers the slots that are genuinely open and books one. | An appointment in Google Calendar or Outlook, confirmation sent. |
| Something nobody thought to load in | Says it does not know, and takes the question down word for word. | A lead with the exact question on it. You answer once, add it, and it is answered from then on. |
Set it up once. It runs itself.

The questions worth asking about any chatbot.
1Will it make things up about my business?
It answers from the knowledge base you approved, so the ordinary failure is being unhelpful rather than inventing something. Where the answer is not in there it says it does not know and takes the question down instead of guessing. We are not going to claim it is incapable of ever being wrong, because that is not a claim anyone can honestly make about this technology. What we can say is that every conversation is logged, so a wrong answer is something you can find and correct at the source.
2How do I install it?
One line of code on any website, or it comes built into the site we make you. There is no plugin to keep updated and no separate dashboard for your team to learn, because it reads from the same knowledge base as the rest of the Front Desk. If we are building your site it goes in during the build rather than as a second project, which is why most businesses are live within 24 to 48 hours of handing over their service details.
3How does it know my business?
From a knowledge base you write and approve: your services, your hours, the area you cover, your pricing rules and the questions that qualify a job. It is not a scrape of your website, because the useful answers are usually the ones that never made it onto a page. Update it once and every agent on the Front Desk changes with it, including the AI Receptionist on the phone if you add that later.
4Can it actually book, or only take a message?
It books. It reads the genuinely open slots out of Google Calendar or Outlook, offers them in the conversation, writes the appointment in real time and sends a confirmation. That is different from a bot that collects a preferred time and leaves somebody to key it in later, which is where double bookings come from. Anything other than those two calendars is a custom integration we scope and quote rather than a switch we can flip.
5What happens to the leads it captures?
Each one syncs into Follow Up Boss automatically, tagged, with the conversation attached so you can see what they asked before you call. Nothing sits in a separate chat inbox waiting for somebody to notice it. If the conversation got as far as a booking, the appointment is already in your calendar and the lead record points at it, so you are not reconciling two lists.
6Is it part of the AI Front Desk?
Yes. The AI Chatbot is one of the capabilities bundled into the AI Front Desk, which is included in the $388 a month Hosting + SEO + AI Agents plan. It is not sold separately and it has no price of its own, which is why you will not find one on this page. It shares the knowledge base, the calendar connection and the CRM connection with everything else on the Front Desk.
A chat that collects a name, a phone number and what somebody needs is collecting personal information, so the standard it has to meet is not one we get to set. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner, jointly with its Alberta and British Columbia counterparts, publishes what meaningful consent means before an organisation collects, uses or discloses personal information. It is the regulator's own guidance rather than a vendor's summary of it, and it is the right thing to read before putting any assistant on a page that captures leads.

Read 2026-08-25. Issued jointly by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the Offices of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta and of British Columbia, and reflecting the principles underlying PIPEDA and its substantially similar provincial counterparts.
